Tart Lumber in Arlington, Virginia in the 1960s

Lynwood Tart came to Arlington, Virginia with one truck and a load of lumber in 1951 and began supplying lumber and building materials to area builders.  Over the years Tart Lumber became known for supplying area contractors, builders, architects, designers and homeowners with quality materials and service.  The company expanded to Loudoun County in the early seventies and now has a full service lumber and hardware store; a 9,000 sq ft design showroom; and, a custom millshop at one location in Sterling, Virginia.

Today Tart Lumber is owned and run by Elizabeth Tart Fritsche and her husband, Craig Fritsche.  They are proud to have opened the beautiful design showroom featuring architectural millwork, doors, windows, cabinetry, and moulding in 2012 and continue to provide personalized professional service for both industry professionals and homeowners.  We have seen tremendous growth and change in the area, but we seek to provide the same customer service and quality products that we are known for.

There is no secret.  As owners, Craig and Libby, are available to meet with customers to help them achieve their home building dreams. Tart Lumber prides itself on being a family business that cares about their employees as well as their clients and the community.
